A day in the life…

7:30am: Bleeep bleep bleeeep the familiar sound of the ipod alarm. Up out of bed to get changed and ready for the big day ahead. Down a quick bowl of Special K for breaky. 8 o clock strikes, still plenty of time before heading out the door. Quick trip to the bathroom then its off toward the Riverhouse Lodge. Quiet day today, no people, no new snow, no cars. Fifteen minutes later a car full of skiiers stops. In the car, brief life story told by all. Same questions over again: ‘Where are you from? Do you ski/board? How many seasons? And then we are at the top. Head into Sushi Kuma to collect the locker key. Pass through Glacier Lodge – check emails. Ski gear on; boots, helmet, jacket, pants, buff, tuk, all set to go. Drop locker key back. No penalty fine today. Wait for buddy to ski with. No lines out front. Still hardly any people. Collect skis and poles. Hi-5 lifties. Get into Gondola. Admire amazing views of surrounding mountains. Arrive at 7000+ feet. Where to today? “Down”. Ski down. And back up the Gondi we go. Repeat this two-three more times. Back to Sushi Kuma. Out of ski gear. Lock gear back in locker. Begin work. Cruisy but slowish day. Crack a few jokes. Discuss conditions of skiing that morn. Finish time. Head back down to Golden. It’s started snowing. Yes!!! Powder day tomorrow. Arrive home. Cook dinner. Shower. Check what’s on the box. Lights out. Bed.
